Instant Productivity Hack: The Book In Front Of You Is The Secret
And yes maybe the book in front of you is the actual book, “The Secret.” 🙂 but no matter what’s in your hand right now you’ve got your instant productivity hack.
I’m not gonna spend a ton of time breaking this concept down in today’s blog post because the whole point of this “single book breakthrough” method is to get you into fast action. And by applying this concept to your own life, you could see a sharp spike in your results.
So let’s get right to it!
Are you a bookaholic?
If they had a special support group for book addicts, I think I’d be their founding member. I already have a few hundred books in my personal library and yet every year I gotta get my fix. In February in Arizona I make my way to the massive VNSA charity book sale and load up with another two bags of books minimum. (hardcovers 50 cents!)
But if I were to honestly look at how many of those books I’ve actually read and applied the wisdom within them… the number would be quite small. And that’s the danger of being a “bookaholic.” We start to trick ourselves into thinking that the mere buying of a book means we’ve already won or made progress on our goals.
Now I’m not saying that you shouldn’t buy that book that seems to jump out from the rack at you inside Barnes and Noble. If intuition is pulling you to it… I’d still recommend getting it. For there is something to be said for acquiring knowledge and having it stacked around you.
In fact, just having a full book shelf in your home office does provide a certain empowering and inspiring energy that can help feed your ability to pursue your goals. But I want to challenge and encourage you to move beyond that and apply a highly unique productivity hack… and it only takes one book.
One Book, One Idea
Okay so this single book success trick is so easy plus it’s going to help you eliminate a ton of overwhelm in your life as an entrepreneur. It all starts out with one book.
That’s right… just one.
Now you can pick whatever type of book you want and the particular topic that you feel will benefit you most right now on your journey. Here are just a few examples…
- Practicing Gratitude
- Personal Finance
- Health and Fitness
- Paid Marketing
Your goal is to go with your gut and pick the one book that could provide you a 10X result in that area in your life today. So let’s say you go with “The Magic” by Rhonda Byrne (might as well keep this secret vibe going lol)
That book main value is in helping you understand and apply the concept of gratitude into your life so as to create more to be grateful for in the future. Now inside that book, the author actually lays out a complete 28 day plan… but you won’t even need to do all of that (yet).
Instead give yourself 1 week to read the book from cover to cover. You don’t have to read it all at one sitting, break it up into chunks over that first week.
Once you’re done reading it, review what you’ve read and pick out your favorite application of it’s knowledge. Yes that’s right… just one.
Then for the next 3 weeks you will put that one key piece of wisdom into action every… single… day without fail. Again don’t try to add more… just keep your focus on that one thing. That’s it.
When The One Leads To Many
Now you might be shaking your head and think, “But Jason… only one thing? I’ve got too much to accomplish and I need to do it now!” Look… I totally get it. We’ve all got massive dreams and we want it here yesterday… but hang with me here.
You see by putting your attention on the application of one single piece of wisdom for those 3 weeks… your ability to focus will skyrocket. Since you’re only having to apply that one thing, you’ll unleash all of this additional energy into your daily life.
How? Because your attention won’t be splintered into a thousand different directions!
And even though you only set yourself that one goal for the 3 weeks, you’ll be shocked to have an overflow of inspiration and motivation. All of a sudden, you could find yourself getting other important tasks done in your business without it being a burden.
Instead you’ll find yourself in a state of natural creative flow and you’ll actually want to do more than normal. Sounds ridiculous right? That by stepping back and only doing one thing… you end up accomplishing 10X what you would’ve done before with all your two ton to-do lists.
So if you’re looking to ramp up your results this month and heading into 2019… use this month of December to grab your one book and one idea.
Give yourself a bit of a break so that you can bring the boom for months and years to come!
